Beatrice Rosso

Biography

Beatrice Maria Rosso is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in Italian Studies at the University of Notre Dame, with a minor in Medieval Studies. Her research examines the accounts of creation in Dante’s Commedia, analyzing their narrative, theological, and cosmological functions and their relationship to broader medieval theological discourse. 

She is currently a Visiting Student at the University of Cambridge (UK) in Fall 2026 and a Dissertation Research Fellow at the University of Notre Dame Rome in Spring 2027. She serves as Graduate Student Representative for the Dante Society of America, for which she was awarded the Presidential Award. She also received the Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award in 2026 from the Kaneb Center for Teaching Excellence.

Before joining Notre Dame, Beatrice received her B.A. and M.A. in Italian Studies from the University of Bologna and spent one semester in Budapest, Hungary (Eötvös Loránd University), where she began teaching Italian in 2020. Her broader academic interests include Boccaccio’s lyric poetry, Elio Vittorini, and pedagogy.
