Research Interests

Guido Caponigri Guerra graduated from Notre Dame in 2017 with a major in History—including an Honors thesis on the receptions of the first English-language translations of the Divine Comedy—and Italian Studies—which culminated in an Honors thesis comparing the roles of “nature” in the works of Leon Battista Alberti and Henry David Thoreau. His current research interest is the influence of Medieval-Renaissance humanism on the New England Transcendentalist movement, particularly through their shared knowledge of Neoplatonism. Guido’s other passions include cinema, cooking, and jazz.
