M.A. French and Francophone Studies

Research Interests

Elijah is originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and received his B.A. in French and Francophone Studies from Davidson College in 2017. During his time there, he was able to spend the Spring 2015 semester in Tours, France for the study of the French language as well as the summer of 2016 in Amman, Jordan for the study of Arabic. His research interests include francophone methods of colonization and occupation, specifically regarding the Levant, as well as the justifications for invasion used by colonial powers between each other and to their own citizens. Elijah is looking forward to continuing his study of Arabic along with French and finding new crossovers between francophone and Arab histories and cultures. Finally, he is happy to continue teaching language, having spent this past year in Dunkirk, France teaching English as part of the TAPIF program.
