Research Interests

Davis Richardson embarked on his Italian journey during a gap year in Milan after high school. In 2016 he received a BA in Linguistics with a minor in Italian Studies from the College of William & Mary. His honors thesis focused on folk attitudes and perceptions of a social dialect he has termed “Gay Men’s Italian”, and for this project he received the Campagna Award for Excellence in Italian Studies Research. Besides Italy, Davis has lived and studied in England, Brazil, and China, where he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer from 2016 to 2018. His current research interests pertain to Italian linguistics and the homosexual experience in Italian history and literature.
