Research Interests

Davis Richardson is a first-year PhD student in Italian Studies. He has studied at Notre Dame since 2018, when he began work towards his  Master’s degree in Italian, earned in May of 2020. His thesis focused on cultural practices of homosexual Italian men in the 1940s and 50s and their representation in cinema and literature. In 2016 he received a BA in Linguistics with a minor in Italian Studies from the College of William & Mary. Besides Italy, Davis has lived and studied in England, Brazil, and China, where he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer from 2016 to 2018. His current research interests include the Italian homosexual experience, early postwar Italian culture, and Italy-China relations.
