Biography

Catherine Perry's work focuses on French literature from the late nineteenth century to the present; European intellectual history; Gender Studies; French Orientalism in literature; and Maghrebi literature in French. She has offered courses on Islam in contemporary Francophone literature; Marcel Proust; French literature of the fin de siècle and the Belle Époque; French travelers to North Africa; women writers from the 20th century to the present; contemporary French literature and film; and European fiction at the turn of the twentieth century. A recipient of Notre Dame’s Kaneb Award for Teaching Excellence, the Distinguished Notre Dame Woman Award, and the Edmund P. Joyce, C.S.C Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, she is also a fellow of the Nanovic Institute for European Studies.
