Biography
Camilla Canonico is a second-year PhD student in Italian Studies at the University of Notre dame. She previously earned a PhD in Italian Studies from the Università di Tor Vergata (Rome), with a dissertation on Jacopo Alighieri’s Chiose on Dante’s Inferno. Her research focused on investigating the features of the hermeneutic thought developed by Jacopo and the relationship between his glosses and the broader tradition of early commentaries. She has participated in several international conferences and published articles on a range of topics related to her research. These span from the exegesis of the Commedia and medieval encyclopedism to biographical aspects of Dante’s life, his relationships with early admirers and detractors, and the development of the historiographical canon of the stilnovo.
