Anna Benedetti

First Year Italian MA Student

Biography

Anna Benedetti is a Master’s student in Italian Studies at the University of Notre Dame, having previously earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Bologna. Her undergraduate thesis in modern art examined the work of Gabriele Paleotti and analyzed the impact of the Counter-Reformation on 16th-century Bolognese art. Expanding on her passion for early modern cultural production, her graduate thesis focused on Isabella Andreini, the renowned 16th-century Commedia dell'Arte actress and author, exploring how the theatrical traditions of the Commedia dell'Arte exerted a direct influence on the emergence of the operatic genre. 

 

Anna also brings practical experience from the cultural sector. Before arriving at Notre Dame, she worked at an art gallery in Barcelona and attended theatrical culture courses at ERT (Emilia Romagna Teatro).
