Biography

Professor Vivirito has been offering introductory and intermediate language and conversation courses at the University of Notre Dame to students, faculty and administrators for more than twenty years. He is a featured vocalist, together with a small cohort of colleagues and undergraduates, in Notre Dame's annual live Spring Italian Concert, in which he has performed several classic Italian songs, such as Nel Blu Dipinto di Blu by Domenico Modugno, Caruso by Lucio Dalla, and the world-famous Italian anti-Fascist anthem, Bella Ciao. This event has become the department's signature event, involving all students enrolled in Italian language classes, and in 2018 it sold out the Leighton Auditorium, Notre Dame's largest concert venue. In 2018 he was honored to receive the Rev. Edmund P. Joyce Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.
