Alejandro Giraldo Gil

Biography

Alejandro Giraldo-Gil graduated from Universidad de los Andes’ Master’s in Literature program (2019), as well as the undergraduate programs of Literature (2015) and Art (2015). His research and creative interests include literary theory and linguistics, comparative studies, body studies, artistic avant-garde movements, Colombian literature, Portuguese literature, literary translation and editing, among others. As a researcher, translator, and editor, Giraldo-Gil has worked on projects such as a critical edition of the text Orpheu 1915-1965 by José de Almada Negreiros (Pessoa Plural journal, 2016), and the translation of part of the poetic work by Adília Lopes, which resulted in the anthology Escribir un poema es como atrapar un pez (Tragaluz editors, 2018) as well as the Spanish edition of her poetry book Z/S (Ediciones Vestigio, 2021). Likewise, he translated the text “Imaging Emiliano Zapata” by John Mraz for the book Emiliano Zapata: 100 años, 100 fotos (Ediciones Uniandes, 2022) and was the editorial assistant for the book Historias del arte en Colombia (Ediciones Uniandes, 2022). He has also published some articles, such as “Anotar a Adília Lopes: entre traducción, poesía y gestión editorial” (eLyra journal, 2019) and “Traducir un poema es como atrapar un pez” (Publicaciones UVigo, 2024). Up until December 2023, he was the editor of the Gaceta CIC of the School of Arts and Humanities of Universidad de los Andes.
