Prof Jauregui attended the XIII Havana Biennial (April 12 to May 12), featuring work from more than 300 artists from Cuba and other 52 countries. Professor Jáuregui, Ticio Escobar and Boaventura de Souza Santos were three keynote speakers for the Biennial. In Havana, he visited the exhibitions and interviewed several artists. Jauregui also met with Margarita Gonzalez Lorente (chief curator of the Biennial), Jorge Alfonso García, director of the XIII Havana Biennial, Jorge Alfonso (Executive Director of the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Wifredo Lam), Jorge Fornet (Executive Director of CIL, Casa de las Américas), and a group of professors from the “Facultad de Artes y Letras” de la Universidad de La Habana, including Kirenia Rodríguez Puerto (Dean of the School of Arts and Letters) and Odette Bello (Chair of the Department of Art History). Professor Jauregui took the opportunity to initiate preliminary conversations about collaborations between our PhD in Literature and various graduate programs at the Universidad de la Habana.
