Ruins and Rubble in Postwar Italy

(part of a series)

Location: Rome Global Gateway

This conference will bring together scholars from the US, UK, and Italy to examine how remnants of the past-both the ruins of antiquity and the rubble of modernity-have come to shape Italian identity in the international context. The event, tied to Italian Studies at Notre Dame's ongoing partnership with University College Cork, aims to promote transatlantic partnerships in the study of modern Italy, bringing together twenty leading scholars from the US, Canada, Ireland, the UK, and Italy and offering them a venue to investigate, discuss, and debate the place of ruins in modern and contemporary Italian culture. The conference in Rome, will serve to foster a dialogue of specialists between Europe and North America.
