Alessandro Matone

Biography

Alessandro Matone is a first-year Ph.D. candidate in Italian Studies. He completed both his BA (in Humanities) and MA (in Modern Humanities) in his hometown, at the Università degli Studi di Milano. He spent a semester at the University of Tennessee to work on his Master’s dissertation on Flannery O’Connor’s fiction and Christian tragic.

He also taught Italian and Latin in middle and high schools.

Research Interests

His main interests are the mutual interactions between Italian and American literatures; Medieval Italian literature; 20th and 21th century Italian and North American literatures; Southern Gothic; Theory of the Literature, especially Erich Auerbach’s works.
