Biography

Shauna Williams is a Teaching Professor in Spanish at the University of Notre Dame. She has many years of experience teaching Spanish in both university and secondary school settings and has taught ESL at all levels. She has also held administrative roles focused mainly on undergraduate curriculum, advising and assessment, and faculty affairs. Recent projects and presentations include engaged feedback, department-wide utilization-focused evaluation, program specific learning outcomes and assessment, course embedded oral and written assessments, hybrid models in beginning language courses, community-based learning, study abroad, and mental health and well-being. Presently, she serves as the Chair for the Ways-of-Knowing Advanced Languages and Cultures - sub-committee of the University's Core-Curriculum Committee, Chairs the Department's TPAC Review Committee, is Concurrent Faculty in the Center for University Advising and is Faculty Advisor for the Notre Dame Habitat for Humanity Student Club. Additionally, Professor Williams provides advisory leadership for other professional groups at the national-level. She has studied abroad and translated for medical teams bringing humanitarian relief to Spanish-speaking populations. She is a member of several professional organizations (ACTFL, AATSP, MLA, AAUSC, ASHE) and a Qualified Administrator (QA) for the IDI intercultural competence assessment tool. Professor Williams holds degrees in Spanish, Education and Higher Education Administration.
