Valeria Canelas


M.A., Iberian and Latin American Studies

Research Interests

Valeria Canelas studied a degree in History in the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) and in the National Distance Education University (UNED). Later, she graduated from a Master of Hispanic Literature also in the Complutense of Madrid with a work about the Bolivian writer Jaime Saenz. Her work has focused on contemporary Bolivian literature, principally in Jaime Saenz and Hilda Mundy.  She also took some courses of a Master of Philosophy in the National Distance Education University.  Recently, she worked as a teaching assistant in the summer program of Duke University in Madrid. Her current research interests are the animal studies, mainly the human-animal relationship and the way it´s reflected in the contemporary Latin American literature.
