Research and Teaching Interests

Cultural and communicational studies. I am interested in working with historical archives and challenge them with new questions in the search of what Foucault calls “subjugated knowledges”. I plan to do research on the Afro-Argentine population, their oral and written archives, the regional imaginaries about it and the stories of the Afro-descendants who inhabited and currently inhabit Argentina. In addition to working on a dissertation project, and connected to my studies on communication, I am interested in bridging my research to Digital Humanities projects, in order to produce digital content based on my work but for the access of a general audience in the form of maps, virtual galleries and museums expositions.

Biography

I am from Paraná, Entre Ríos, Argentina. I received my bachelor’s degree in social communication from the Universidad Nacional de Entre Ríos. I also hold a degree in music from the Universidad Autónoma de Entre Ríos. I did an exchange year in Sweden back in high school, so I speak Swedish in addition to English and my mother tongue, Spanish. During my undergraduate studies, I had the opportunity to take place in various research programs, mostly specialized in a communicational approach of historical archives and it was an interdisciplinary work together with the historical museum of my city and the general archive of my province. The period I studied was between 1880 and 1950. I had the opportunity to be a teaching assistant in my university in Argentina where I worked with concepts such as Identity,
Memory, Culture, Power.
Currently I am in the second year of the PhD in Spanish at Notre Dame. I am instructor of a course of Beginning Spanish and I am working on my research interests which are race and ethnicity studies in Argentina.
