Biography

Carolina Caterina Minguzzi is a first-year Masters student in Italian Studies at the University of Notre Dame. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Film Studies from the University of Bologna, with a thesis about Guido Aristarco’s found, which were used during the workshop “Per una storia privata della critica cinematografica italiana Metodi e strumenti per la ricerca”. At the University of Bologna she also completed her First Cycle Degree, and her thesis was about Jerry Lewis in DC Comics. In 2020, she participated in the Higher Education course “Multimedia and cross-media editor. Telling about festivals between writing and multimedia”. In 2022, she attended the seminar “La catalogazione dei manoscritti con Manus Online”, which covered the cataloging of manuscripts using the Manus Online software. In 2023, she enrolled in the course “History and Cultures of Sexuality” organized by Italian Society of Histories.

Her research interests focus on Italian Cinema, Film Criticism and the role of women in Italian editorial board. She works as a film festival critic and film critic for Cinefilia Ritrovata (an online magazine of the Cineteca of Bologna), E Muto Fu (an online blog about silent films) and Streamofilia (an online magazine about streaming). Over the years, she has developed a growing interest in archives and this type of sources as a means to understand the history of cinema.
