Research Profile

Shauna Williams is Associate Teaching Professor in Spanish and Assistant Chair and Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Notre Dame.  Professor Williams has many years of experience teaching Spanish in both university and secondary school settings, and has taught ESL at all levels.  Her administrative roles focus mainly on undergraduate curriculum, advising and assessment.  She also serves as Chair of the Department’s Committee for the Study of Romance Languages and Cultures. Recent projects and presentations include department-wide utilization-focused evaluation, program specific learning outcomes and assessment, course embedded oral and written assessments, hybrid models in beginning language courses, community-based learning and study abroad.  Prof. Williams is on the advisory board for the Consortium on Useful Assessments in Language and the Humanities Education (CUALHE), an inter-institutional collaborative effort that aims to share and to enhance assessment practices developed by college language and humanities programs and to develop a cadre of scholars who can serve as assessment experts/facilitators.  She has studied abroad and translated for medical teams bringing humanitarian relief in Argentina and Ecuador.  She is a member of several professional organizations (ACTFL, AATSP, AATI, MLA, NeMLA, AAUSC) and is completing a doctoral program in Educational Administration at Michigan State University.
