Research

Professor Oswald specializes in medieval Spanish literature, with an emphasis on the formation and diffusion of the Spanish epic, and a particular interest in questions of orality and textuality in the transmission of legends. Before coming to Notre Dame, she taught at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Holy Cross College. Through Holy Cross, she offered classes as part of the Westville Education Initiative, a program that allows qualified inmates at the Westville Correctional Facility the opportunity to pursue a degree in the liberal arts. She teaches language and literature courses at Notre Dame.
