M.A. in Italian Studies

Program Description

The Master's Program in Italian Studies at the University of Notre Dame consists of a two-year, 39 credit hour program that ensures a solid base in language, literature, and culture by providing students with a comprehensive background in the literary and cultural achievements of Italy. The Program has strengths in every aspect of Italian literature and culture, including Dante studies, Renaissance studies, 18th- and 19th- century culture, and Italian cinema. Individual attention, small classes, and a dynamic faculty prepare students for a promising future in teaching, research, or future doctoral work. Our M.A. graduates have had unparalleled success in the top doctoral programs in the country, including Yale, UC Berkeley, Princeton, and Notre Dame, among others.
